Ans. Yayati became prematurely old by the curse of Sukracharya for having wronged his wife Devayani. He disliked it because he was still haunted by the desire for sensual enjoyment.
Q. 2. In order to enjoy the pleasur of youth, Yayati wished to take the youth of one of his sons. Was he right in doing so ? Explain with arguments of your own.
Ans. In order to enjoy the pleasure of youth, Yayati wished to take the youth of one of his sons, he was not right in doing so because a man who cursed by any one should face the problems himself. Yayati should face the curse of Sukracharya himself by destroying his desires of enjoyment of life as a youth and should not appeal to his sons to share his problems like that.
Q. 3. Write in your own words the responses of the first three sons to their father's request.
Ans. As I think a father should not appeal to his sons like Yayati. A father always think for the welfare of his children. The children should also responsible for their parents who care on their wellfareness. The first three sons to their father's request should not reply as they replied. They can suggest their father and encourage their father to face the curse of their grandfather Sukracharya. A gardener waters his garden to give beautiful flowers to make him happy and peace not to make him anger and unhappy. So the first three sons had also responsibility to share their father's problems moraly and suggests him to take boldly this.
Q. 4. How did the fourth son respond to his father's appeal? How would you have responded if you were the fourth son ?
Ans. The fourth son begged to be forgiven, as this was a thing he could by no means consent to. An old man has to seek the help of others even to keep his body clean, a most pitiful plight. No, as much as he love his father, he could do it. I would have also responded the same if I were the fourth son.
Q. 5. Why did Puru agree to give his youth to his father and take his father's old age in the bargain ? Did he do the right thing?
Ans. Puru was the youngest son of Yayati who loved his father very much. He knew that his four brothers had refused to share the appeal of my father and if I refused my father would be shocked and may died or mad. So, with filial love he agreed to give his youth to his father and take his father's old age in the bargain. On that time emotionaly he did right but in fact it was not right thing.
Q. 6. Is it right for a father to make such a request to his sons as Yayati did?
Ans. No, It is not right for a father to make such a request to his sons Yayati did.
Q. 7. Were the four sons justified in refusing their father's request? If yes, give reasons.
Ans. Yes, the four sons were justified in refusing their father's request because the father always keeps his children's happiness. A father takes all the laods on his shoulders and try to not feel it his child. In this story a father like Yayati should not appeal to his children like this to give their youth.
Q. 8. What lesson do you learn from this story?
Ans. This lesson teaches us that a man should live in his boundary. A man who jumps from his boundary of life may be laughed by others or may be ignored. In this story Yayati an Emperor of the kingdoms, appealed to his -sons who denied his appeal. It is not true that his sons were not loving him but his appeal was not so good to accept. A sensible and responsible man can not do as Yayati's son Puru had done. In emotion everything is possible.
C. 2. GROUP DISCUSSION :
Q. 1. "Elderly people are assets to our nation." Do you agree? Give reasons.
Ans. "Elderly people are assets to our nation." Yes, I am agree with this truth. If youth or children are here they are the gifts of the elders. Elderly people contribute to their experiences to reform the nation. They share the problems and suggest and guide the youths to do better for their life and nation. The children in home are also guided and cored by the elders who grow up in their supervision.
C. 3. COMPOSITION:
Q. 1. Write a paragraph in about 100 words on "Relation between parents and sons".
Ans. Relations between parent's and sons: We know that 'family is the first school of a child'. A child learns many things in the guidance of his parents. It is said that as you sow you will reap means as the parents as the sons. The parents motivate their sons to grow in their life and help them to achieve their missions of life. Sons should also responsible for their parents. They should obey their parents and respect them who always think about their welfare. When the sons denied the appeal of their parents what their parents' heart thought can not be imagined. But sometimes parents also appeal their sons as so that they can not do that. So the parents also care on their appeal to their sons though that could not be denied by their sons.
